Read to Self and a Thanksgiving Freebie

I've been trying to get the Daily 5 up and running in my room. When it is finally working well, it is so great to be able to have that small group time. But, the hardest thing I find is to get my kids to stay in that bubble space. Some of them are really good at it and others just need to show you every little thing that they discover in their book. In an effort to have this running more smoothly, I spent a lot of time on 3 Ways to Read a Book. I was lucky enough to have 22 copies of this book.
So, we do a read aloud together and then we practise re-telling the story. They each get a copy of the book for their Read to Self folder, works really well for when they are trying it on their own. Here is my anchor chart for 3 Ways.

Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I have a little freebie for ya! It has Math and Literacy practice.  Just click on it to download.
Have a great weekend!

  2. Thanks Diane:) How are you? Have you started our countdown yet?! With 22 kids, I have to say this fall has been a blur.
