Groundhog Day and a Reading Strategies Pack

Hi there. I get so wrapped up in what I am doing this time of year that I really have to remember to fit the little groundhog in. Right now, we are in the middle of a Penguin unit, moving from Penguin fiction to non fiction, I can't seem to stop and honour the groundhog and his shadow. So I made a promise to myself that, for at least a part of this week, I would trade in one furry little critter for another. Even if it's just for a day. I posted a Groundhog word search last week, if you missed it, you can click here.  But, what I thought I would have my kids do for Mr. Furry Shadow Seeker is PREDICT.

Just click on the Predict sheet above to download. Just in cause you were wondering, I want Spring to come, like yesterday...

One last thing, we've been working hard on predicting and connecting in my class. Next stop, visualizing and I needed some visualizing of my own to really help get my point across. So, I created this pack to help my kids with their good reader strategies. Here is a peek at one of the posters in the pack.

If you would like a copy, just leave me a comment to tell me how you would use it in your classroom. I'll choose 4 people, randomly.
Thanks for reading!

I'll leave you with my own furry critter, who I was lucky enough to stay home with today (Snow Day) well actually it was an Ice Ice Baby day today. Sometimes Winter is just not that bad.
Cute eh?

    1. Need I remind you my dear that you live just minutes from the best city in Canada:) isn't that enough?? And now you want a snow day too? Seriously though, I was not expecting that at all, when the phone rang this morning, I was like - oh no, someone needs a lift. But no...I had a great day. I am crossing my fingers for you Diane. Really I am (wink wink).

  9. Toward the end of the year, after I've taught all the strategies, I usually put together a packet of reading response worksheets. I give each student a new packet each week. They must do at least one page a day and they may choose to do any page that fits with what they read that day during reading workshop. Your posters and worksheets would be wonderful to use!
