I Confess…Please Forgive Me

Please forgive me, but here a few (not so little) things I do that I probably shouldn't. I'm linking up with my friend Jennifer from Rowdy in First Grade.

1. I deleted the Count to 100 page that's part of my Smart Board Calendar cause I had seriously had enough of it. Plus, every time I looked around, some of the kids were counting but most were just mumbling. You know how long it took them to notice it was gone? Still waiting...

2. I use my beautiful Erin Condren lesson planner to write notes to myself. Nothing else, just that.

3. I had the kids keep quiet 2 extra minutes on the carpet the other day cause I wasn't finished gossiping with the French teacher.

4. I almost gave one of my kids a detention the other day cause he was wearing a ball cap of the hockey team that is playing against my team right now. They who shall not be named. Seriously I considered it.

5. I would give anything for all of my kids to be able to read in their bubble space for the 20 minutes that they are supposed to, so the other day I watched and the usual suspects did everything else but read. When it was over, I gave a big, fat gumball to all the kids who had stayed in their bubble. Very sad faces.

6. How many times am I going to have to send someone back to fix their writing cause they forgot one or all of these 3 things? - Uppercase, finger space, punctuation. I'm sure, to them, I sound like a broken record.

7. Lucky and last # 7 - There was a box of chocolates in the office last week. I discovered them fairly early on, but the ones I wanted were already gone, so I lifted the whole layer up and dipped into the 2nd layer. Bad I know.

There I feel better. Do you have anything to confess? I'd love to read about it.

All the Way Back to Earth Day, Some Dinosaurs and A See You Later 1st Grader!

What have we been up to? Lots! I have to go all the way back to Earth Day to show you my great little workers and what they've done.

And now we're onto the Dinosaurs! Love them, they are my favourite thing to teach. We started with this famous guy. Sorry for the glare.

They cannot leave these alone, but I don't blame them. I present the first 4 Dinosaurs to my kids as The Famous Four - Apatosaurus, T-Rex, Triceratops and Stegosaurus. We learn as much as we can about them first before we move on to the others. Eventually my kids will choose a Dinosaur to report on and build. If you want more info on how I teach this unit, click here.
If you're lucky enough to be close to the end of your school year, Congrats! I have about 33 days to go! And for the last part of the year, I created a pack to help my kids wrap things up and reflect on their year.

It's got a little bit of everything, but the thing my kids LOVED was the Brochure they created for the Kindergarten students. They had so much fun working on that! And just so the workload wasn't too heavy, I put them in groups and they shared the creativity. I love how this turned out. You can click on any of the pics for more info.

Just in case you've been out of the loop lately, there is going to be a Teacher Appreciation Sale on TPT staring tomorrow for 2 days, May 6th and 7th. So all these products I blogged about will be on sale:)
Have a great week. This button is courtesy of The Printable Princess - Love her store!
